Overview

Picture spending less time feeding and more time doing what you love. Think about how much you spend on hay and cut that number in half.  Reduce waste and save time with our round bale feeder.

The Texas Haynet Livestock Net is the perfect addition to your waste management program. Designed with cattle in mind, this hay net minimizes waste without slowing down intake. Bigger holes allow for easy access to forage while preventing livestock from squandering valuable hay.

Special needs horses, like the blind or seniors with dental issues, are also good candidates for large 3" holes.  A larger hole makes feeding time much easier for them and ensures they are able to get enough.

Horses facing harsh winter conditions may also benefit from larger holes. As calorie requirements increase during extreme temperatures, you want to make access as easy as possible. Smaller holes may add additional stress by creating frustration.

The net is lightweight and easy to install - no heavy equipment required.

*Use caution with horned animals and animals with ear tags. Use caution with shod animals.  We recommend using a round bale feeder with a solid barrier between the shoe and the net (pictured and sold separately).  Use caution with small hooves when using nets with holes larger than 1.75".

Reduces waste, Solid construction

My cows have had access to their haynet for a couple weeks now and neither them not I have any complaints. The net is made moderately heavy-gauge material and seems like it should stand up to the abuse my cattle will put on it. There seems to be nearly zero wasted hay dropped onto the ground and stepped into the soil. I would 100% recommend this product for cattle who waste a lot of hay.

Great for older horses

Bought the larger opening for our 3 20+ year old horses. They love it. No more pitching hay into a feeder in the wind. No more waste when I have a big round bale in a feeder. Love it.

FAQ

What Hole Size Should I Buy?

There are several things to consider when choosing a hole size. Here are the basics:

  • 95% of animals do well with 1.75" holes.
  • For heavy breeds or aggressive eaters we recommend a 2.5" hole or bigger.
  • For mini breeds we recommend a 1.5-1" hole.
  • For cattle, senior horses with dental/vision issues, or thick stemy hay we recommend a 3" hole.

What Kind of Savings Should I Expect?

You can expect money, time & hay savings. The amount of each varies based on several things, but generally speaking:

  • Round bale hay nets waste less than 6% of a bale.
  • Round bale nets cost 50% less than other hay feeders.
  • Hay nets can cut hay expenses dramatically because fewer bales are needed.
  • Spend less time feeding and eliminate time spent cleaning up wasted hay.
  • Checkout our hay savings calculator to estimate how much you can save.

How Long Does a Net Last?

This varies based on the type of net, how many animals are using the net and how many days a year you feed hay.

  • Round bale nets normally last 2-4 years. Sometimes longer.
  • Square bale nets typically last 3+ years.
  • Small nets can last 5+ years.
